On International Women’s Day, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta engaged with citizens at her residence, where she was greeted with small plants and bouquets. She also attended an event at Fortis Hospital, where she delivered a powerful message about women’s empowerment.

Speaking at the event, CM Gupta emphasized the importance of making daughters self-reliant, stating that the shift from the “Save the Daughter” campaign to the “Empower the Daughter” campaign marks a significant step in gender equality. “We must focus on making daughters self-reliant. There should be no difference between sons and daughters,” she declared.

She praised Prime Minister Modi for his initiatives that have uplifted women, particularly the Ujjwala Yojana, which she believes has played a crucial role in empowering women across India. Gupta also highlighted the need for improving healthcare services in Delhi, ensuring that government hospitals are well-equipped to meet the needs of citizens, reducing the dependency on private healthcare.

Additionally, CM Gupta assured that the Delhi government will work to make healthcare services more affordable, especially for women and the elderly. She criticized the previous government for launching hasty, ineffective projects and promised that the upcoming Delhi budget would prioritize healthcare improvements, incorporating suggestions from the public.

Sources revealed that the Delhi cabinet is set to discuss the proposed Mahila Samriddhi Yojana, a financial assistance scheme for women, which will provide Rs 2,500 to women in the city. This is expected to be announced soon.

As the Delhi budget session approaches, CM Gupta reaffirmed her commitment to presenting a “Viksit Delhi” budget, focusing on the city’s development and incorporating input from all sections of society.
